Just days after saying they would welcome a time when their services aren’t needed, the folks behind the Indie Fund have announced the fifth game they’ll be backing. This time it’s Kachina which is being developed by Ben Esposito who was the level designer of last year’s The Unfinished Swan.

On the game’s website, Ben describes Kachina as a “physics-based toy that evokes Katamari Damacy’s sense of order and scale.” From the screenshots available, you can see the same bright, colorful aesthetic and that exploration and interacting with various animals will be key.

Maybe the most interesting tidbit of information comes from the Indie Fund website which reveals that Kachina was devised during the Molyjam, the event that challenged developers to create games based on the infamous Peter Molydeux parody Twitter account. I’d be interested to know what tweet gave Ben the inspiration for the game; maybe that’s something we’ll learn soon.
