Inafune: A new 16-bit Mega Man game is ‘a great idea’

Due to the ridiculously awesome nature of this news, I’m going to skip the pleasantries and jump right to it: Thanks to the success of Mega Man 9, a new Mega Man game presented in good ol’ 16-bit fashion seems like a possibility.

“Reviving the 16-bit game style in the series seems like a great idea,” says Keiji Inafune in response to a fan-submitted question. “We certainly would like to consider trying it out in future when there’s a chance.”

Having spent the vast majority of my childhood playing a Super Nintendo — and continuing to do so well into my adult life on a near-weekly basis — these are the words I’ve been desperately waiting for Capcom to say ever since we got wind that Mega Man 9 would be a throwback.

I think I speak for just about all of us when I say, Capcom, make us a new game in the Mega Man X series.
