In today’s episode of Pregame Discharge, the Switch Lite is a reality and so is Goat of Duty!

Reality needs to be kickflipped into oblivion

While Lyle and I continue to seek the pocket of whispers that hold the secrets of this world, here’s what’s been happening in video games this past week:

    • The rumored Switch Lite is a reality!
    • Ion Maiden is now Ion Fury because of boomer metal and lawyers!
    • Goat of Duty is a thing because goats are apparently…funny? All of this and more in today’s episode!

I slept in Wednesday and was sorta shocked to find out Burger King were now offering cheapo tacos that looked like roadkill between a corn shell. That same day, however, I definitively wasn’t shocked by the announcement of the Nintendo Switch Lite. It’s been speculated and rumored for a long while now and it’s honestly just not something I was too interested in since I already own an original.

However, I definitely see the appeal and understand why it’s a thing. A cheaper, portable-only option is most definitely going to sell like hotcakes (especially when Pokémon Sword and Shield come out). But, just like the portable-only rumors, there have been persistent rumors of a Switch “Pro” in the works. Nintendo has ruled out the release of another new Switch model this year, but I can’t help but wonder if a premium Switch model is coming…would people even want it?

Discharged question of the week: would you be interested in a Nintendo Switch Pro?

For me, it honestly boils down to if it has a better screen and a slight jump in hardware. My ideal idea of a Switch Pro would include built-in SSD storage for lightning-fast load times, an AMOLED screen, and some slightly better hardware allowing for native 1080p on the go. I think they would just have to market it as a premium experience for Switch enthusiasts and I’d be all over it.
