In an appearance at GameCity in Nottingham, Media Molecule co-founder Alex Evans revealed that image importation would be coming to LittleBigPlanet by Christmas. Evans (also the guy who manned Sackboy during the E3 presentation) did not elaborate but he did say that the reason it wasn’t included in the initial release was due to time constraints.
This is obviously a very welcome addition to the game, where user-created images are the only real limitation. Currently, players have to use the PlayStation Eye to capture their own artwork. This is often an arduous process that requires a steadiness of hand, perfect lighting, superb focusing, and ability to use a controller to snap the picture while doing all of the above. It will be interesting to see exactly what Media Molecule creates. Will it simply be an in-game component or will it be a program where users can resize, brighten or alter the contrast of a picture?
Hopefully we can get a better explanation as Christmas nears. LittleBigPlanet is certainly a game fueled by creativity and this will add to the game’s experience. Expect our review of the title within the next few days.
