If the market demands a weird FPS, Crytek UK is ready for it

If demand for another quirky FPS arises, Crytek UK (once known as Free Radical) is primed to deliver it. Speaking with Develop, Crytek UK’s Karl Hilton wouldn’t rule out a fresh TimeSplitters title, even though the studio is now tackling Crysis 2 and shifting focus to new IP. It’s all about the market’s desires, according to Hilton.

In the interview, Hilton said it was up to Crytek UK to talk to publishers and see what the want from the studio — be it something realistic or curious.

“Like with all businesses, content is dictated by the desires of the market,” Hilton said. “These days the mass-market shooters tend to be aimed at the hyper-realistic stuff. If developers had free reign with the CryEngine, they would easily be able to produce really bizarre, wacky wonderful stuff.”

“We have artists who can make super-realistic games but we also have a team that has experience making completely bizarre stuff too. If the time comes, if there is a demand for that type of game, I’m confident we’d be ready for it.”

So, market, what say you? Are you ready for another TimeSplitters? We’re down with any game that may have nuns with chainsaws. Just sayin’.
