Almost a year later, the long-awaited villain is playable

General Grievous, once again voiced by Mathew Wood, is playable today in Star Wars Battlefront II.

The imposing four-armed villain can crawl around like a nightmarishly fast spider, perform a thrust attack, and twirl multiple lightsabers while advancing just like that scene in Revenge of the Sith.

As shown in today’s launch trailer, he looks as cool as you’d hope and expect.

Grievous has an alternate “Battle Damaged” appearance, and he’s set to get another skin on November 28, 2018 — the same day Battlefront II adds Obi-Wan Kenobi and the Battle of Geonosis.

It’s a shame to see an iconic and beloved character like General Grievous join the Battlefront II roster in a period where most of us have lost interest in the game and aren’t likely to ever return. I hate to be pessimistic — I really do! — but things shouldn’t have turned out this way. Battlefront II was a missed opportunity, and this year’s drip-fed content updates haven’t done enough to turn the situation around.

I’m curious what the next big Star Wars multiplayer game will look like. EA can’t pull the same stunt.
