Diablo 4 Season 11’s Lesser Evils can drop plenty of different items when they’re defeated, including Unique Purified Essences.
These are essential, since they will help unlock the Purfied Slots for your Divine Gifts. This can be done by speaking with Hadriel and turning in the Essences.
However, you can continue getting these essences after unlocking the slots, since that’s not their only purpose.

How to use Unique Purified Essences in Diablo 4 Season 11
One use is, naturally, to hand them over to Hadriel. This needs to be done until you unlock the Purified Slots for all eight Divine Gifts in Season 11. Purfied Slots are boons associated with the Divine Gifts, and they work as positive modifiers.
You can also use them at mystery altars located all over Sanctuary. There’s a mystery altar for each of the four Lesser Evils: Andariel, Azmodan, Belial, and Duriel.
When you take the Unique Purified Essences to the correct altar, it will light up with flames. I have yet to find all four, but nothing happens when you interact with the altars. This could be due to two possible reasons:
- We will need to find the Purified Essences for all four altars to trigger something extra in Season 11.
- We might need to find a specific amount of Purified Essences for each altar for them to work.
There’s also a chance that this could be a part of mid-season content that Blizzard may add in the future. However, that seems rather unlikely based on how previous seasons have worked.
All Unique Purified Essence altar locations in Diablo 4 Season 11
Here are the locations of all four Purified Essence altars that you can find in the Sanctuary.
Altar of Lies and Altar of Sin
The Altar of Lies is located in the Seat of the Heavens in Fractured Peaks. You can use the Purified Eye of Belial at this altar. The Altar of Sin can be found in the Umir Plateau in Hawezar, where you can use the Purfied Tongue of Azmodan.
Altar of Pain and Altar of Anguish
The Altar of Pain is located in Caldeum, and you can use the Purified Horn of Duriel at this altar. The Altar of Anguish is located in the Seven Stones Region in Nahantu, and you can use the Purified Claw of Andariel at this location.
