The X-Ray machine is unlocked at the midgame stage in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check, but it’s extremely useful for catching symptoms and contraband.
While survivors will be queuing up at your outpost to find a safe shelter, they can sometimes carry illegal items within their bodies. The X-Ray can be used to detect and remove all kinds of problems, and this guide will quickly explain the complete process.

How to get and use the X-Ray in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check
You obtain the X-Ray machine on the 16th day of your adventure. To use the item, you first need to select it from the tool wheel (by pressing Q). Then, hold down the LMB/RT/R2 button and move the screen to inspect different parts of the body. You can change the view settings using the mouse scroll wheel/RB+Y/R1+Triangle button.
There are four layers of an X-Ray image.
Base
All organs will be displayed at once. Good for a quick glance but not much use otherwise.
Low
Focuses on the organs in the relatively outer areas (like the lung, for example).
Top
Shows the lower organs and the Brain. Disappears all other parts.
All
Removes all organs from the image, revealing only the contraband.
All X-Ray Symptoms in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check
At first, only one symptom will be available: Internal Bleeding. Here’s a brief description of all symptoms and what they mean.
- Internal Bleeding: The survivor’s internal organs are damaged. They’re red in color, and there will be sporadic blood marks. However, they’re not infected with the zombie virus.
- Color Differences: The organ’s color will differ from standard, with varying shades. This could be either due to the zombie virus or due to other infections.
- Moldy Organ: The entire organ will be covered in blue or green spores, and small bumps will form. Moldy Organ means that the victim is infected, and it’s best to liquidate them.
- Fatty Hepatosis: The organ appears yellow. They’re not sick; they’re just obese.
Finally, there’s Organ Necrosis: the organ will have black marks, and the victim is infected.
How to Catch Contraband with X-Ray in Quarantine Zone: The Last Check
Once you’re informed about smuggling contraband, you’ll need to check the victims with the All mode on your X-Ray. This mode will show any items that can be smuggled by the victims with their bodies. Once you spot something, mark it using the E button. The item will be highlighted.
Spot all contraband items that you can spot. A guy in a hazmat suit will appear and remove the items. The removed items will appear in the tray after they’re taken out of the body of the victim.
