The Anti-Personnel Minefield is a Stratagem in Helldivers 2 that I really hate because it kills more teammates than enemies unless you learn how to use it properly.
There are dozens of Stratagems to get to grips with in Helldivers 2. Many of them will help you craft the perfect build for your tastes, while others are simply fun because they cause massive explosions you can hug your way through. At some point, though, all of them are necessary for Personal Orders. These are orders Super Earth issues to all Helldivers to convince them to use technology they might not be familiar with, and it doesn’t always help when you don’t know how to use said technology.
How to use the Anti-Personnel Minefield in Helldivers 2
The best way to use the Anti-Personnel Minefield in Helldivers 2 is to find a nice spot where enemies will come to you. Then, once you know enemies will be rushing your position, call in the Stratagem and watch it throw mines all around it. This will create a huge trap for enemies to run through, and they’ll die as they do.
As you might be able to guess from the name, the Anti-Personnel Minefield is a portable minefield you can call down onto a planet. The only problem with it is that it’ll spew mines that anyone could cause to explode, including you and your fellow Helldivers. This is why I don’t like the Stratagem. It just kills anything that gets too close to it, and Stratagems are always deployed close to you and your teammates.
However, if you use the Anti-Personnel Minefield strategically, calling it down far from your position and away from the direction you will escape, it should be very beneficial. I found that it works wonders if you call it down on a location where enemies are waiting for you to arrive. They’ll all notice the mines spew out and cause them to detonate without ever knowing what happened. It makes some missions a lot easier.
Best Anti-Personnel Minefield loadout in Helldivers 2
While there’s no best loadout in Helldivers 2 for the Anti-Personnel Minefield loadout outside of what you’re comfortable with, some Stratagems do make more sense than others. For example, I like to bring a Guard Dog because it attacks enemies from a distance, drawing them across a minefield, and a Stalwart for the same reason. I don’t think it ever hurts to have an Orbital Strike, too, just in case things go south and you need the added firepower in a pinch.
How to get the Anti-Personnel Minefield in Helldivers 2
To get the Anti-Personnel Minefield in Helldivers 2, you need to purchase it from the ship management screen in your ship for 1,500 Requisition Slips. This is the currency you’ll earn most of from missions in the game, so you should be able to pick this Stratagem up pretty easily. I hadn’t done it until this Personal Order came through, but it’s so cheap and accessible that it’s not a problem to sit on it until you absolutely need it.
