How to unlock the Hotdog outfit in Dress to Impress

It's time to look cute on the fashion runway.

Dress to Impress features numerous beautiful, interesting, and occasionally goofy themes that require particular clothes. If you’re going for a goth look, you’ll likely wear dark dresses and accessories. Other themes require pastel, bright, or even one or two specific colors. Then, of course, you have the hotdog costume.

The hotdog costume was originally released as part of Dress to Impress‘ Halloween 2024 update alongside the Lana storyline. Although it’s an odd choice for most themes, it can create funny situations. Let’s dive into this peculiar outfit further.

How to wear a Hotdog costume in Dress to Impress

Unlike regular clothes in Dress to Impress, wearing the hotdog costume requires finding it on top of a potted plant. Once you spawn into the dressing room, walk toward the VIP room until you reach the plant next to the entrance. Here, you’ll see a teeny-tiny hotdog sitting in the dirt, which you can click on to wear the costume.

Just be careful: it won’t go in your clothing inventory or codes rewards section like some outfits. Instead, you’ll wear it automatically, much like you would with most clothes. In other words, if you want to wear it multiple times, you’ll have to return to this plant each time.

PSA: the hotdog costume might disappear

Although the hotdog is a silly costume, you can make it goofier by changing its color. Like other clothes, it lets you access the wheel, palettes, and pattern options. Doing this lets you change the bun, sausage, and sauce colors.

For some, that sounds like a fun reason to make colorful, weird-looking hotdogs. For others, that’s led to some… not so family-friendly results. Let’s just say that’s not a good thing when it comes to a kid’s game.

Since its release, the costume has undergone multiple changes, ranging from the removal of the color toggles to its change into a cupcake, according to Dress to Impress development manager Zac. Depending on whether the misuse continues, there’s a very real chance it’ll be removed altogether.

With that said, I’m all for seeing some funky hotdog costume designs, with some community ones like this Godzilla outfit and Plankton cosplay being among my personal favorites, as long as they stay within the game’s rules.

There are some genuinely creative versions of this hotdog costume out there that I fully support. I even had an interesting moment where I designed a goth outfit, only to accidentally turn myself into a hotdog two seconds before voting started. If discouraging phallic outfits is what it takes to keep having these fun moments, I’m perfectly fine with not seeing them again.
