If you’ve been zipping along the tracks in Rocket Racing, the latest addition to Fortnite as it expands into a gaming ecosystem, you might be chasing its special skin unlock. But unlocking Jackie in Rocket Racing isn’t going quite so well for all users.
The “Jackie” outfit is part of the “Try Rocket Racing” quest in Fortnite, tied into its new racing mode. And it requires quite a bit of ranked racing.
How to get Jackie in Rocket Racing
Per the quest text, you just need to hit Gold rank in Rocket Racing to unlock Jackie. You can bump up your rank by heading into the ranked matchmaking queue and racing against others.
While any placing seems to give you some ranking at this point, you’ll want to place high for the fastest rank-ups. A top 4 placement is usually going to net you the higher end of progress, and you’ll need to climb up through the Bronze and Silver ranks to reach Gold.
Why haven’t I unlocked Jackie yet?
You might be here because you’re in Gold I, the first rank of Gold, and you don’t have Jackie unlocked yet. This is not just you; it’s apparently a known issue.
The RR_Status account on Twitter clears this up a bit: while the requirement will be bumped to Gold 1 in a future update, it’s currently set a smidgeon higher at Gold II. So to unlock Jackie, you’ll need to hit Gold II and complete one additional race.
I ran into this same issue and panicked, but after grinding up to Gold II and starting a new race, I saw the unlock pop. Just stay patient and keep grinding away on the tracks. Reaching the higher ranks puts you on some more challenging tracks anyways, so treat this as some good practice time.
Unlocking Jackie in Rocket Racing nets you both the normal skin and a special Lego Fortnite version, if you’re also playing Epic’s other big in-game launches.
