As you advance through Wuthering Wave’s main storyline, you’ll encounter plenty of obstacles, puzzles, and enemies that get in your way. Vine thorns and explosive charges are one obstacle you’ll encounter early on, but fortunately, you already have the levitator tool to handle it.
How to unlock Levitator in Wuthering Waves
Unlocking the levitator ability requires progressing through the main story until you initially reach Jinzhou’s city hall and meet Sanhua. After some brief discussions, you’ll unlock several new abilities, many of which you’ll discover as you continue through the main story missions following directly after.
Most obstacles requiring the use of a levitator will appear after this point. However, if you find a puzzle or item requiring levitation, you’ll have to wait until your first interaction with Sanhua to activate and use this ability. You’ll then find it by heading into your utility menu, hovering over levitate, and closing the menu to equip it.
How to use Levitator to burn off the thorns in Wuthering Waves
Once you talk to Sanhua and unlock the levitator, you’ll find your first required use after locating a few thorns. As you approach the thorns and explosive charge, equip the levitator through the utility menu before using it on the explosive charge, aiming at the thorns, and throwing the bulb to ignite them.
You’ll encounter these thorns after visiting Jinzhou’s city hall, meeting Sanhua, and repairing several detection beacons. Throughout these story missions, you’ll repair various beacons, one located under these flammable vine thorns. You’ll naturally encounter the thorns and explosive charge during the quest and should have the levitator unlocked when you find them.
Once you spot the thorns and explosive charge, igniting the thorns requires a quick three-step process:
- Levitate the explosive charge
- Aim the charge at the thorns
- Throw the explosive charge
On PC, this requires pressing T while looking at the charge to levitate it, holding G to aim it, and pressing left-click to throw it. Although a few button presses are required, the game will walk you through each step, allowing you to follow these steps in real-time.
Once you levitate and throw the charge at the thorns, you’ll find your next detection beacon and progress through the Echoing Marche quest.
