Even if you collected every character in Astro Bot, you may still be missing a few more. And the only way to get them is by finding the exclusive cameos in Astro’s Playroom.
To help you with this, we’ll show you how to unlock and transfer Astro’s Playroom characters to Astro Bot.
How to unlock Astro’s Playroom characters for Astro Bot
Before you start looking for exclusive bots, you must complete a playthrough in Astro’s Playroom. That means you’ll need to defeat the boss at the very end to trigger Astro Bot’s hidden challenges.
Once you’ve unlocked each stage, locate four cameos in the following areas of Astro’s Playroom:
- Nightmare Guardian: GPU Jungle’s Renderforest
- Pro Driver: Cooling Springs’ Bot Beach
- Greedy Ape: Memory Meadow’s Gusty Gateway
- Stranded Scout: SSD Speedway’s Deep Dataspace
Solve the riddle of each character to transfer them to Astro Bot. Don’t worry; we’ll detail their locations and challenges to make it easier.
Nightmare Guardian
The first bot will be the easiest to get out of all of them, as it can be found right at the start. Enter GPU Jungle’s Renderforest and go above the first checkpoint. Now, take a left to spot the exclusive cameo you’ll be transferring.
Stand near the edge next to a plant to spawn a capsule with the character inside:
To solve its riddle, jump up to trees on the right to discover a clock. Enter the number: ’24 11 2015,’ which correlates to the release date of Bloodborne‘s The Old Hunters DLC. You’ll then earn the Hunted Down trophy, allowing you to send off the character to Astro Bot.
Pro Driver
Go to Cooling Springs’ Bot Beach for the next Astro Bot. Use the slide to travel to the beach area and stand on four green stars. However, you’ll need to do this in the correct sequence for it to work. You must also avoid green shells with the same design since they’ll disrupt the order.
Find the first one when you touch down, underneath a wooden bridge on the right. You should hear a ding, indicating that you are on the right path.
Then, go to the left side to locate the following star next to two blue and white shells. Although there’s another star to the right of this, it has nothing to do with this challenge.
Return to the area where you found the first star. Go directly across from the bridge and stand on the star with a clamshell and palm tree.
Travel to the beach’s top left corner for the last star to discover it in the water. The Pro Driver bot should appear before you to unlock the riddle.
You can solve the challenge by going to the opposite side, next to a large blue pipe. Move past the PlayStation button symbols and punch the blue shell underneath it. You’ll find a steering wheel here, which is crucial for the Pro Driver riddle.
Stay near the steering wheel and open the menu to access the map. It’ll act as a racing course, where you must position the Astro Bot icon on the correct pathway. Starting from Bot Beach, use the analog stick and move it in a specific pattern (you don’t need to press ‘Go here’; just move your stick):
You’ll circle back to Beach Bot in the end, but if you need more guidance, input these directions in order:
- Up
- Left
- Down
- Down

Once you’ve used the suitable route, the Pro Driver bot will move to the Astro Bot file.
Greedy Ape
At Memory Meadow’s Gusty Gateway, progress through the course until you’ve reached the first checkpoint. This will help you set up the path to the challenge’s location, unlocking wired bridges. Then, return to the starting point and pull the ropes near the edge.
Carry the item you’ve gained from this to the first checkpoint, next to a bot with a net. Go to the edge and throw the object on a hidden structure in the clouds.
You’ll uncover the Greedy Ape, who will ask you to find some bananas and complete a dance sequence. Before you get the bananas, I recommend memorizing the bot’s moves first with the D-Pad. You’ll eventually need to match the Greedy Ape’s dancing, so knowing what each button does is essential.
For reference, here’s a list of all Astro Playroom’s dance buttons:
- Dabbing and tapping toes: Down
- Carlton Dance: Left
- Flossing: Up
- Saturday Night Fever Dance: Right
Now it’s time to grab the bananas to satisfy the Greedy Ape. Progress through the course a bit more to reach the elevated terrain with an Astro Bot on a tree. Hit the tree a few times to spawn the banana.
Go back to the first checkpoint to give the bananas to the ape. Stand on the platform to begin the randomized dance challenge.
Do your best to copy the ape and complete the challenge successfully. If you fail the first time, you can repeat the process.
Stranded Scout
Go to the SSD Speedway’s Deep Dataspace for the last Astro Bot. Travel through the course until you reach the fourth checkpoint. Stand on the edge to spawn the Stranded Scout.
Pull the nearby wires to pick up the machine gun. Use it to get rid of the enemies in the room with the glass panel. However, you must avoid eliminating the green slime monsters for this specific challenge. Then, start climbing up to discover a toy astronaut.
Stand on top of the astronaut toy until a ring appears around it. Get hit by one of the slime projectiles to fulfill the riddle. As a result, you’ll transfer all the Astro’s Playroom characters to Astro Bot. It’ll also unlock the Four The Players trophy as a bonus.
Where to find Astro’s Playroom characters in Astro Bot
You can find the four bots at the Crash Site in Astro Bot. They’ll be marked with the number ‘2’ on the map.
Approach each location and exchange two Astro Bots. Help the exclusive bot by lifting the rock on top of it, which you may have already done with another character in the game.
After you’ve done this process four times, you’ll expand your Astro Bot collection with the new Astro’s Playroom characters.
