How to turn off animations in Loop8: Summer of Gods

You’ll want to do this

Loop8: Summer of Gods has, shall we say, a unique structure. True to its name, Loop8 is a game where you loop through time, always back to the first day in August, until you can make it through the month. Unlike other games that prominently feature a time loop mechanic, Nini, the protagonist of Loop8, doesn’t retain his knowledge from loop to loop. This means you’ll be experiencing the same conversations every time you loop back to the beginning of the month.

You’ll also be seeing a lot of Musasa when you do this. Musasa is the messenger of the gods who brings their blessings to Nini and friends. Each time you visit a shrine, and often when you strike up a conversation with a citizen of Ashihara, you’ll get a visit from Musasa. Considering how many blessings there are in the game, this will happen quite often. Chances are you’ll never want to see this flying squirrel again after his fifth or sixth visit.

Thankfully, there is a way to remove Musasa’s animation from the game, drastically cutting down how much time he’s on screen for each blessing. However, this option is only available if you update the game to version 1.02.

Once you’ve downloaded the update, all you need to do is go to the settings. There is a tab called Animations with two options: Blessings and Battles. Blessings controls the animations for Musasa, while Battles controls the attack animations in battle. Both of these should automatically be set to “Off,” which actually means they’re on and you will see these animations when you play the game.

This menu is actually asking if you want to turn the skip animation feature on, so if you want to cut down the blessing animations — and it’s strongly recommended you do after the first few times of getting blessed by Musasa — turn the feature “On.”

The wording on that is a bit confusing, and it may be updated in a future patch. But, as of version 1.02 of Loop8, that is how you turn the Musasa blessing animations off.
