How to access The Teal Mask DLC

To start The Teal Mask, you need to own the Hidden Treasure of Area Zero, and you must have started the Treasure Hunt in the main Pokémon Scarlet and Violet game. Treasure Hunt involves visiting the Academy and playing through the intro there, and it should take a couple of hours of gameplay for folks out there who are new to the game or have potentially lost their save files.

You’ll then receive a call on your Rotum from Jacq, who will inform you that you are going on a field trip to the lovely Kitakami. Make your way to the Academy at Mesagoza, head into the entrance hall, and you will find an NPC there called Briar. You should be able to find Briar just inside the main door, and she will have short blonde hair, a purple jacket, and red pants.

Chat with Briar, who will introduce herself as a teacher and give you a little information about the new area. Keep chatting with them when you are ready to leave, and the next thing you know, you’ll be whisked off to Kitakami by bus. The first stop will be Mossui Town.

If you are having trouble finding the content or have not gotten a call from Jacq, then make sure your base game is updated to version 2.0.1. To do this, stop the game running, then hit + on it in the main menu of the Switch. Check for updates in the “Options” menu via the “Software Update” option, and then give it time to download if it needs to. You should also double-check that you own the correct version of Hidden Treasure of Area Zero for your base game.
