How to Start the Astroneer Glitchwalkers DLC

Lot of work to be done

The Glitchwalkers DLC is now live in Astroneer, and a lot has changed as part of the new content. But to enjoy all of that, you’ll need to be able to access the expansion first.

The Glitchwalkers DLC is the first major expansion that has been released by developers System Era Softworks, and there are plenty of great reasons to be excited about it. But first things first, you’ll want to play a part of the core game to gain access to the new planet Aeoluz. Whether you’re a beginner or a returning veteran of the game, this guide will help you gain access to the new gameplay content.

How to access the Glitchwalkers DLC in Astroneer

For starters, you’ll have to buy the Glitchwalkers DLC, and this part is pretty obvious. You can do this by either getting the Glitchwalkers Edition or purchasing the DLC separately. There’s a big discount currently available on both, so make sure not to pay extra in the future.

Then, you’ll have to begin on your base planet and go through the initial set of quests. The specific quest that you’ll need to complete is called “Glitchwalkers.” It can be viewed from the mission log, and it’s hard to miss as the mission name is entirely in caps. The mission in discussion comes right after the “Well, That’s Weird” quest.

How to get to Planet Aeoluz in Astroneer

Once you complete “Well, That’s Weird,” you’ll gain a new mission in the log named “A Core Concept.” This quest is pretty easy to complete – simply activate the core of the planet you’re on, and this will get the job done. You’ll also gain a few in-game rewards for your efforts.

Then begins a new mission called “Is This Thing On,” followed by “Heya.” These quests are story-based content that doesn’t really need you to do anything. Then comes “Maintenance Issue,” followed by “Storm’s a Brewing.”

Once you interact with the Landing Pad, you’ll get one Ruby and a schematic. Opening the Ruby will activate a mission called No Place Like Home. To complete this, you’ll need to complete the following activities.

  • Use Ruby in a storm found on any other planet other than Sylba.
  • Process the encrypted data using the Research Chamber.

Once the research is done, begin “Bootstrapped for Cache” and “Thinking with Portals.” The Portal can be found at the Landing Pad, and there are certain restrictions for you when activating it. Activating it will create a portal door that looks like something made by Dr. Strange. This begins the “Fools Rush In” quest, which requires you to rush into the Portal.

This Portal is your gateway to the Aeoluz system, where you’ll be able to create a new adventure game. Now, if this sounds confusing, you can always check out the following video from OneLastMidnight, which immensely helped me to reach the system fast.

Also note that it will take you some time to activate a planet’s core, which will help you grasp the basics of Astroneer and its core concepts.
