How to Solve the Chamber of Justice in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

Even if we’re just Justice in the dark

Baldur's Gate 3 Chamber of Justice

They’ve said before that justice is blind, but sometimes it’s really just stumbling around in the dark. That’s the case in the Chamber of Justice in Baldur’s Gate 3, as you’ll need to illuminate some truth to enact justice for this trial. Here’s how to complete the Chamber of Justice in BG3.

How to dispel the darkness in the Chamber of Justice

As you enter the Chamber of Justice, you’ll notice there are paintings all around the room, illustrating a story, alongside three others in the center. Those three are enshrouded by darkness, as an apparition of justice weeps darkness all around. (Same, bud.)

Ignore the paintings around the room and check out the spirit, who is literally cursed to dole out darkness. You know what’s great for handling that? Remove Curse. Shadowheart easily handles that for you.

Using Remove Curse will dispel the dark and make the paintings in the center visible. Note that illuminating the area will not do the trick, so spells like Daylight or the effects of the Blood of Lathander mace won’t work here.

With the darkness dispelled, examine the paintings around the area. You’ll learn about a very Les Miserables tale of someone stealing apples to help those down on their luck. The statue of Balduran asks you to deliver a bit of justice. Additionally, if you have Wyll in your party, he’ll give you a hint.

Basically, dole out the medium-grade punishment, The Cell. Pick up the painting and drop it onto the big placeholder in the center.

By taking the just-right approach, you will appease the statue and justice itself, clearing the trial. Celebrate a measured response by heading over to the other chambers of Strategy, Insight, and Courage to finish opening the way towards Ansur.

How to get to the Chamber of Justice

The Chamber of Justice trial is part of the quest to find Ansur below Baldur’s Gate, available in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3. While you can find your way down here, you’re likely visiting as part of Wyll’s companion quest, provided you’ve saved his dad from the Iron Throne prison. The Chamber of Justice is one of four you’ll need to solve in Baldur’s Gate 3 to open the way to Ansur.
