Fight Minecraft's final boss a second time

The Ender Dragon is often considered Minecraft‘s final boss before the credits roll and you begin your adventure in another world. However, fighting this challenging enemy again is possible if you have the right resources and make extra preparations for the battle.

How to fight the Ender Dragon again in Minecraft

Respawning the Ender Dragon in Minecraft requires using four End Crystals on the portal in the center of the dragon’s battle area. By placing the crystals on each side of the portal, beams will shoot toward the obsidian towers to reignite them before re-summoning the dragon, allowing you to tackle the fight again.

Once you re-summon the dragon, the battle will ensue as usual. The End Crystals will explode, damaging you and any blocks you placed nearby, and the Ender Dragon will appear with full health. Now, you can fight the dragon again to your heart’s content and repeat the process if you have the supplies to make more End Crystals.

In survival mode, making an End Crystal involves going into a crafting table and using the following materials:

  • Seven glass
  • One Ghast tear
  • One Eye of Ender

After getting your hands on each item, arrange the glass in an “n” shape around your crafting table menu before placing the Eye of Ender in the center square and the Ghast tear at the bottom. Doing this, you’ll make one End Crystal for your battle.

However, since you need four End Crystals to respawn the Ender Dragon, you’ll have to obtain 28 glass blocks, four Ghast tears, and four Eyes of Ender to make enough. You also need upwards of 12 Eyes of Ender to activate the Stronghold End Portal, so prepare extras for crafting alongside your glass, Ghast tears, and crafting table.

Alternatively, if you have cheats enabled and want to spawn in four End Crystals quickly, you can switch to Creative Mode, enter End Crystal in your inventory search bar, and bring them to the End. From here, you can place them down as usual without going through the hassle of crafting each crystal yourself.
