How to replay the Tutorial mode in Risk of Rain Returns

Sometimes, we can use a refresher course. If that’s the case for you with the challenging Risk of Rain Returns, you may want to replay its Tutorial mode — and here’s how.

Risk of Rain Returns starts with its tutorial ready and primed. Of course, if you’re a RoR veteran you probably skipped right over it to dive into the game proper. And that’s fair. But for those who turned away the chance and regretted it later (after becoming a colorful smear on the planet’s surface), there’s hope yet.

You can replay the Tutorial mode of Risk of Rain Returns by going into ‘Settings’ and then ‘Controls’ from the main menu. The third option down is a ‘Play Tutorial’ button. Click on it to retry the mode once again.

But is there more to the Tutorial mode than meets the eye? Like many stages in the game, there may be a reward worth hunting down.

How to find the tutorial stage secret Prism in Risk of Rain Returns

The Risk of Rain Returns tutorial has a little something extra: A secret collectible sneakily hidden away from all but the most curious explorers. Indeed, the mode lets you understand the game’s mechanics and features better than imagined. Not only do you learn how to navigate the game’s controls, but the mode also teaches you that poking your nose around may yield rewards.

There is a secret prism hidden in the tutorial stage. To earn it, you must first have the Bandit unlocked, since you can’t claim prisms for characters you can’t play as yet. Head to the left part of the stage and jump on top of the small platform. Hold down when standing above the vine to shimmy to the ground below. Move right and walk through the hidden tunnel. The Prism will appear as you draw near.

Once claimed, it unlocks a purple skin for the Bandit. It’s one of many prisms hidden throughout the game. And this one was secreted away in the Tutorial. That’s pretty sneaky of Hopoo Games.
