With the Warframe 1999 demo available to all, we can now all experience a taste of what’s to come in the near future. However, accessing the demo isn’t what I’d call obvious, so here’s how you can.
How to start the Warframe 1999 demo
Before you can even attempt to begin the demo, you must first have completed the story missions: Vor’s Prize and Awakening. These missions serve as Warframe’s new player tutorial, so there’s a high chance you’ve already completed these if you’re interested in Warframe 1999.
With that sole prerequisite out of the way, you can begin the demo by heading to your Orbiter and going to your Navigation Console. No matter how you’ve decorated your ship, you’ll find a strange, vine-infested computer to the right of the console.
Walk up to it and interact with it. You’ll be given a prompt that will allow you to begin the demo, whenever you’re ready to start. Additionally, by playing the demo, you’ll be graciously rewarded with the free Protokol Longsword skin, no strings attached.
What is in the Warframe 1999 demo?
In the Warframe 1999 demo, you play as Arthur, the main protagonist who bears a striking resemblance to Hayden Tenno from Dark Sector. Your mission is a familiar Exterminate, where you must hunt down and eliminate a number of Scaldra enemies within a gritty, urban streets tile set.
Arthur wears a prototype version of the Excalibur Warframe, giving you access to his iconic abilities. You’re also equipped with the AX-52 rifle as your primary weapon, the Vesper pistol as your secondary, and the classic Skana for close combat. A standout feature in the demo is your motorcycle, which can be summoned at will via the Gear Wheel.
Overall, the Warframe 1999 demo plays extremely similar to standard Warframe down to the mission type, so don’t go in expecting an entirely new experience with it. Still, as a demo, it does give a taste of what’s to come.
