How to get the Shard of Agony to fight Duriel in Diablo 4

Duriel is one of the endgame bosses for whom you will need some items before facing him. If you are still trying to get the Shard of Agony, here is where and how you can get that in Diablo 4.

How to get the Shard of Agony in Diablo 4 Season 3

This is an item that takes quite a few hoops to jump just to finally get it. To make it easier, here is a step-by-step guide of things you need to do to get this.

  1. Reach World Tier 4.
  2. Be at least level 75 with a strong build.
  3. Farm Helltide events and locate the Tortured Gift of Living Steel chest. These are marked as orange chests and require anywhere between 250 to 275 Aberrant Cinders.
  4. Collect the five Living Steel items (from orange chests).
  5. Locate the Hall of the Penitent (located south of Ked Bardu).
  6. Sacrifice 5 units of Living Steel to summon Grigoire, The Galvanic Saint.
  7. Defeat Grigoire.
  8. Repeat steps 3 to 7.

Upon defeating Grigoire, you should receive one Shard of Agony. You’ll need two units of this, along with two Musuc-Slick Eggs which are acquired by defeating Varshan.

It should also be noted that you must fight Grigoire at World Tier 4 – Torment. Fighting him at 3 won’t yield any Shards of Agony, thus being a waste of farming those Helltide orange chests.

Luckily with how expedited XP gains have been this season and with the help of our power-leveling methods, you should reach that in no time.

Where to fight Duriel

Once you have the needed items to summon the King of Maggots, head over to the Gaping Crevasse dungeon. This is located to the east of Gea Kul. It’s going to start at level 100, meaning Duriel will also be encountered at that level. Be prepared for a tough fight.
