Groundbreaking Abilities
During his adventures, Link frequently crosses paths with the Yiga Clan. They seem silly at first, but they wield deadly blades and know a fantastic ability that allows them to strike even when they don’t have any weapons to hand. This move is called “Earthquake” and, with a little hard work, Link can learn it too.
This guide explains how to get the Earthquake ability from the Yiga Clan in Tears of the Kingdom.
How to Get the Earthquake Manual in Tears of the Kingdom
Learning how to perform Earthquake is a long process that involves spending quite a bit of time battling the Yiga Clan.
1. Find all the pieces of the Yiga Clan Armor
Link’s first task is to find all three pieces of the armor, allowing him to blend in with the foolish thugs. Fortunately, there is already a guide explaining where each of the pieces of Yiga Clan armor can be located.
The armor has use outside of the quest, as it also gives Link maximum stealth which lets him easily sneak up on enemies and horses. Its color can be changed at the dye shop in Hateno Village. If you have the right parts, you can also upgrade its defense at one of the Great Fairies.
2. Locate the Yiga Clan Hideout
To find where the naughty Yiga Clan is hidden, you’re going to have to head for the mountainous Gerudo Highlands. The entrance to the headquarters is located in a cleft in the rocks at the following coordinates:-3686, -1363, 0331.
You can get there by warping to the Gerudo Highlands Skyview Tower and taking a short walk. Remember to have your full Yiga Clan outfit on when you visit. Additionally, pack your best weapons and a weapon that swipes quickly and deals high damage. You’ll need it.
3. Complete the Blademaster’s challenges
Once Link’s inside the Yiga Clan, head deep into the headquarters until you arrive at the Blademaster. They will present a series of challenges. The first has Link defeating three Yiga Clan members in under a minute.
Though the challenge may seem daunting at first, it is actually quite simple. The Yiga Clan members are fast, but they’re also extremely fragile. Pack a 3-shot bow and you’ll snuff them out as soon as they appear.
The second challenge has Link defeating six targets in under a minute. Complete this, and the Earthquake ability is yours. For the third and final challenge, Link has to defeat nine Yiga Clan members within a minute to win a powerful, lightning-repellant helm.
How the Earthquake Ability Works in Tears of the Kingdom
Once the Earthquake manual has been acquired, Link will be able to perform the move. Simply unequip all handheld weapons, then hold the “Y” button. Using his stamina, Link will charge up and unleash the ground-shaking move. The longer the “Y” button is held, the further ground the move will cover, though this effect requires more stamina.
Earthquake is a handy ability, especially when Link is low on weapons. It’s a great way to take enemies by surprise and give Link a little breathing room when a battle gets too intense.
