Get the Champion’s Belt through the Tourney Champion quest
The Champion’s Belt is a ridiculously good accessory in Octopath Traveler 2. Equipping it boosts both Phys. Atk and Critical by 100, surpassing other physical accessories by a wide margin. The crazy part is that this isn’t a unique accessory; you can farm as many of these as you want. If you want to give massive stat boosts for your physical attackers, have them double up on these belts.
That said, it’s very easy to miss the Champion’s Belt in Octopath Traveler 2. Getting it involves clearing the Tourney Champion side story, but you can easily reach this story’s conclusion without seeing the item. Don’t worry, if you’ve already finished the Tourney Champion quest, you can still go back and farm the Champion’s Belt. Here’s what you need to do.
How to complete the Tourney Champion quest
You’ll find the Tourney Champion quest in Montwise. Chapter 2 of Hikari’s story must be completed before this quest becomes available, for reasons that should make sense shortly. If you meet this prerequisite, talk to the Worried Woman standing above the arena. This will initiate the quest, and as the dialogue indicates, you’ll need to venture into the Underground Arena for the next step.
Once you’re inside, find the Fainthearted Youth. Feel free to interact with him however you want, but ultimately you need to knock him out. Use either Hikari’s Challenge, Ochette’s Provoke, Castti’s Soothe, or Throne’s Ambush. Afterwards, you’ll be drafted into the arena to fight in the Youth’s place.
This will trigger an encounter with the warrior Yurinas, except only the protagonist who knocked out the youth will participate in battle. I’ll be frank: if you’re finishing this quest as soon as you can unlock it, you won’t win this fight. Yurinas is just too powerful of a fighter, especially if you’re only around level 30. Fortunately, you don’t need to secure a victory at this stage. After the conclusion of the story plays out, you’ll receive 2,000 Leaves and Reinforcing Jam.
That’s a meager reward, but only because the true prize still awaits you. Once you complete this quest, you can challenge Yurinas again. Just talk to the Registrar in the arena at any time, and you’ll be asked if you wish to have a rematch with Yurinas. It’s still a solo fight, but you’ll be able to freely select whoever you want to enter the ring. This is our ticket to the Champion’s Belt.
How to defeat Yurinas
Yurinas is weak to Swords, Knives, Axes, Ice, and Wind damage. She has a sturdy 6 shield points, which can be tough for a single character to take down. Hikari is a natural pick here, as he brings powerful sword damage and can clear Yurinas’ shield with two Aggressive Slashes. Ochette can also take down Yurinas efficiently, especially if she has learned her EX Skills.
The main gimmick to watch out for appears on Turn 1. Yurinas will use Windswept Slash, dealing several powerful hits before you can even act. You can approach this in one of two ways. The first of which is to simply be high enough level that you can tank this attack without a problem. The second option is to equip an accessory like the Tempest Amulet, which will reduce wind damage significantly. Otherwise, this is a straightforward battle. Deal huge damage and keep your health reasonable to secure a victory.
Yurnias will always drop the Champion’s Belt upon victory. It’ll appear as part of your end of battle summary, though a major accessory like this is worthy of more fanfare. In other words, once you have this fight on lock, challenge Yurinas as much as you’d like to continue farming Champion’s Belts from her. Enjoy your major attack boosts!
