You can get the Abyss Trekker by purchasing it from the Ship Services Technician at Paradiso. Paradiso is located in the Porrima system on Porrima II. The Porrima system can be reached from Alpha Centauri, the system that you start the game in, by jumping to Olympus, Volii, and then Porrima. If your ship can handle it, you can get to Porrima in one jump as long as you have already visited the system at least once.

When you get to Paradiso, look for the well-dressed Technician near the right of the Trade Authority Kiosk. Chat with them and select the option to buy some ships. The Abyss Trekker should set you back 320,000 Credits or so.

The Abyss Trekker stats

This ship is a solid fighter, but not much for moving cargo due to its very small trunk space.

  • Fuel – 950
  • Hull – 1031
  • Cargo Capacity – 340 (0 shielded cargo capacity)
  • Class C Reactor – 27
  • Crew – 6
  • Jump – 28 LY
  • Shield – 850
  • PAR – 38
  • MSL – 96
  • Bal – 162

As I said, this is a very strong ship for combat, but it isn’t very good for moving cargo. It is, however, bristling with weapons. With particle beams, missiles, and ballistics weapons, there is not much this thing cannot shred. The main downside is that it is a Class C, so you will need to fully rank your Piloting skill to fly it. Well, that and the price.

If you want a great all-around ship that is free, you can do the Overdesigned mission for the Kepler R. Pay close attention to the guide, as it is easy to mess this up and get a lesser ship instead. You could also go for the Narwhal if you don’t mind the cost or having to rank to Class C.
