Shadowbeak, the apparent result of a genetic experiment undertaken by Victor Ashford to produce a four-legged winged beast, comes with some pretty impressive active skills and a permanent “are we going to Disneyland?” expression on its face that you can’t help falling in love with.
Getting your hands on a wild Shadowbeak comes with a distinct risk of also gaining a Wanted Level in the process and although it can be bred, the only pair of parent Pals consists of two more high-level Pals.
Admittedly, if you’re looking for a Pal to help out at your base, I’d suggest… Probably just about any other Pal than Shadowbeak. The Pals only base skill is Gathering and that sits at a disappointing level one. It can be used as a flying mount, though, with a speed stat of 1200 and above average stamina.
Where to catch Shadowbeak in the wild
Shadowbeak spawns in only one place in the wild — Wildlife Sanctuary 3.
Situated East of the Deep Sand Dunes fast travel point in the Desiccated Desert, Wildlife Sanctuary 3 is home to a few high-level Pals, including Shadowbeak, so a trip out there is definitely worth your time.
If you do intend to go there, take a flying mount and stay on it at all times. As long as you don’t step foot on the island itself, you can fly around endlessly and the PIDF officers are unlikely to pay you any mind. Unless you decide to shoot some Pals directly in front of them, they tend to have a problem with that.
How to breed Shadowbeak
I’m sure you’re pretty familiar with the concept of breeding in Palworld at this point, but just in case you’re not, we have a guide to help you out.
Here is where it gets problematic; if you’re hoping to breed Shadowbeak, you’ll need to get your hands on a Kitsun and an Astegon, both of which are hard to come by in themselves. You could get lucky and hatch Kitsun from a wild Egg, but the only guaranteed encounter with Astegon is a level 48 Alpha Pal battle located on Mount Obsidian.
Otherwise you’re looking at heading to Wildlife Sanctuary 3 anyway, because that’s where Astegon spawns in the wild, so you might as well just capture Shadowbeak and skip this step.
Once you’ve obtained both of these Pals, the rest is a piece of cake. Sorry, I couldn’t help myself.
