League of Legends has recently debuted its newest game mode, Swarm. This is similar to games like Vampire Survivors, in that you control a small character that (mostly) auto-attacks enemies for you.
This is a tried-and-true formula, though League’s implementation of it can have a little bit of confusion behind it at first. Here’s how to get more passive slots in League of Legends’ Swarm game mode.
Where to get more passive slots in LoL Swarm
Passive slots are awarded upon completion of certain challenges that are unlocked as you progress. You start with three passive slots, and can earn a fourth passive slot by getting three separate passives in a single game. That leaves two locked passive slots with challenges that only appear once you reach Hard and Expert mode, respectively. Once you do, you should get a challenge for each.
If you don’t know already, you can unlock new difficulty modes upon completing the main set of maps. These maps are Warehouse District, The Outskirts, Subterranean Lab, and The Beachhead. This will unlock Matchmaking Island (which is the ability to queue up with random players) alongside Hard mode. Completing all maps on Hard mode then unlocks Expert mode.
Are extra passive slots worth the effort?
The other passive slots are absolutely worth getting. Having more passives means that you can evolve more of your five available weapons, along with having one extra passive to upgrade whatever you want. If you get to the point where you need a sixth passive, you should pick one that provides benefits to as many of your weapons as possible. The stats that benefit each weapon can be found by hovering over them.
