If you’re looking to make gear, weapons, or even certain furniture items in Final Fantasy XIV, you’re going to need some form of leather. Sadly, getting the respective animal hide or skin isn’t enough, and you’ll need some Alumen to turn it into leather. One of the most commonly used Alumen for high level Leathers is Eblan Alumen. Thankfully, this resource can be gathered easily using a level 84+ Miner.
How to get Eblan Alumen in Final Fantasy XIV
If you’re looking for some Eblan Alumen, and you’re not willing to spend any money on the Marketboard in order to take that shortcut, which is wise considering the price bump that’s currently occurring due to the resources newfound need in Dawntrail, you need to head to Garlemald.
More specifically, you’ll need to find The Eblan Rime in Garlemald, which can be found around (X:21.0, Y:29.0) just east of Camp Broken Glass. Here, you’ll find some level 85 Rocky Outcrops which will yield Eblan Alumen as long as you are at least level 80 on your Miner.
Depending on your level, you may have a less than 100% chance to gather Eblan Alumen, but this can be countered by using Sharp Vision actions to get as close to 100% as you can. Otherwise, if your percentage is already high, you can use King’s Yield actions to gather as much as you can – this is particularly useful at nodes which increase your gathering attempts.
Other ways to get Eblan Alumen in Final Fantasy XIV
If you’re lucky, your Retainers can bring back some Eblan Alumen from the following 18 hour Ventures:
- Mining (Level 84)
- Highland Exploration (Level 81)
Of course this does rely on your Retainers having the right Job, which in this case is Miner. If this isn’t the case, you’re better off heading to Garlemald yourself and grabbing the Alumen you need. On top of this, you’ll only get a maximum of 11 Eblan Alumen per 18 hour Venture.
How to use Eblan Alumen in Final Fantasy XIV
Eblan Alumen, as with all other Alumens, is used together with various animal hides to create leathers. Specifically, Eblan Alumen can be used by Leatherworker to craft the following leathers:
