If the idea of a tiny dragon living in a candy apple is appealing to you, then you’ll want to get your hands on Dipplin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet’s The Teal Mask DLC. This little guy is one of the new evolutions in the game, so it is bound to be in high demand with Pokémon trainers everywhere.
How to get Dipplin in Pokémon Scarlet and Violet
To get Dipplin, you will first need to have Applin and the Syrupy Apple. The Syrupy Apple is a new item that has been added to the game specifically to evolve Applin into Dipplin. Syrupy Apples can be found for sale at the Syrupy Shack in Kitakami.
To get to the Syrupy Shack, make your way along the river that runs to the southeast of Moussui Town, where you start your adventures in Kitakami. In the southeast corner, you will find Mossfell Confluence on the far side of the river. Here, you can buy the Syrupy Apple for $500.
How to evolve Applin into Dipplin
To evolve Applin into Dipplin, select the Syrupy Apple in your inventory. Hit “Use” and then click on Applin while they are in your party. This will automatically evolve Applin into Dipplin, and there is no need to hit a certain level with the Pokémon before you can do it. There does not appear to be another stage of evolution for Dipplin, so after that, you are done.
Where to find an Applin
Obviously, you will need an Applin to be able to evolve the little guy. To get one, make your way to Apple Hills. You will actually go here as part of a quest. You can find it just by heading to the southwest of Moussui Town. Also, just in case you are looking to evolve an Appletun or Flapple, you can find both Sweet Apples and Tart Apples on the ground in the Apple Hills.
As for Dipplin, the little guy is a Candy Apple Pokémon and a Grass/Dragon type that will have both Supersweet Syrup and Gluttony abilities when it evolves. Syrup Bomb is a Grass-type special attack that causes an explosion of syrup. It coats the target in syrup and causes its Speed stat to lower each turn for three turns. Meanwhile, Supersweet Syrup will lower the evasiveness of opposing Pokémon.
For those curious, it doesn’t look like Dipplin can be found naturally in the wild, but it does seem that you can find Shiny Dipplin. I’ve seen him appear on social media but have been unable to confirm it myself at this point in time.
