With tons of new weapons, spells, and other trinkets, it’s easy to miss some of the more useful items available to find in the Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree DLC. One of the early new Ashes of War you can find is Shriek of Sorrow, a useful skill for certain builds. Here is where and how to get Ash of War: Shriek of Sorrow in Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree.
Where to find the Ash of War: Shriek of Sorrow
You can find the Ash of War: Shriek of Sorrow in Belurat, Tower Settlement, the first Elden Ring Shadow of the Erdtree legacy dungeon. Start at the Small Private Altar Site of Grace and head left and then right out of the building and up some stairs.
A powerful dual-wielding Knight patrols here, so take him out or wait until he walks far to the left then immediately head right and down the stairs into an area with destroyed towers and bricks laying everywhere. Take out the enemies here and then head down the stairs into a big courtyard with a tree in the middle as seen in the screenshot above.
If this is your first time here, you will be invaded by a Fire Knight. She’s relatively easy, but make sure you watch out for when she conjures up a fireball. It will float by her for a brief second before quickly flying at you and exploding, so make sure you don’t dodge too early as you may be inclined to. This fireball deals massive damage, and she can follow up with a swift attack. Defeating the enemy will grant you the Crusade Insignia talisman.
Now head around the backside of the tree in the center of the courtyard. You will find a corpse resting against the base of the tree with loot on it: this is where you will find the Ash of War: Shriek of Sorrow.
How does Shriek of Sorrow work?
The Shriek of Sorrow Ash of War is multi-faceted, giving players the ability to crowd control nearby enemies in an AoE while also boosting their own Attack Power. It’s an Occult-based Ash of War that costs just 19 FP to cast.
When you use Shriek of Sorrow, the enemies around you—not including bosses—will scream and flinch. You’ll also gain increased Attack Power based on the HP and number of enemies you hit with Shriek of Sorrow. The lower the HP of the enemies you hit, the more Attack Power you gain.
The Shriek of Sorrow Ash of War is useable on all melee armaments.
