How to get and use Rift Shards in LEGO Fortnite

Everyone loves fast traveling.

Bus stations in LEGO Fortnite are a fantastic way to fast travel around your map. Whether you’re looking to go from one side of the map to the other or even explore regions like the Lost Isles, using a Battle Bus is one of the fastest ways to do it.

However, while you’ll occasionally find bus stations around the map, making your own lets you pinpoint exactly where you want to travel. Building one requires obtaining Rift Shards, which are trickier to find than you’d think.

Where to find Rift Shards in LEGO Fortnite

LEGO Fortnite offers two ways to get Rift Shards:

  • Destroy Battle Bus stations
  • Defeat golems on the Lost Isles

Although you can build bus stations yourself, they can also randomly spawn around the map, allowing you to destroy them for their resources. You’ll obtain Rift Shards alongside iron bars, malachite, and Frostpine, making them an important structure.

Alternatively, you can search for and defeat golem enemies that spawn on the Lost Isles. There are three types you can find:

  • Fishstick Golem
  • Peely Golem
  • Tomato Golem

You’ll find golems around the Lost Isles, including on beaches, in the jungle, and regular plains biomes. However, they’re incredibly powerful enemies with a lot of health, so make sure you have some decent gear. Each golem drops Rift Shards, making them a renewable source of this material.a

How to use Rift Shards in LEGO Fortnite

The main purpose of Rift Shards is to build bus stations to unlock fast travel. Once you pick up a Rift Shard, you’ll find the station under Utility in your build menu.

Apart from these shards, you’ll need the following resources to build a bus station:

  • Rift Shard (3)
  • Iron Bar (4)
  • Malachite Slab (2)
  • Frostpine (6)

With this in mind, making a bus station certainly isn’t easy, especially if you’ve never been to the Frostlands. Fortunately, these resources are available in your regular Overworld, so if you’ve been playing for a while, you might have some stocked up already.
