Where to get Amorphous Materials in The First Descendant

In The First Descendant, Amorphous Materials are a mission reward you obtain from Void Intercepts, Special Operations, and other missions you play as you progress through the main story. Every mission has a loot table detailing what resources you can obtain, with Amorphous Materials being one of the possible options for most missions.

Here’s a quick summary of some of the mission types that can drop Amorphous Material:

  • Zone Recon missions
  • Void Intercepts
  • Special Operations
  • Mine Blocking

In most cases, you’ll have low odds of finding Amorphous Material, requiring you to run the same missions multiple times. You can find the exact percentage in the mission’s reward list.

However, the main challenge is finding the mission that drops the specific Amorphous Material you need. If you’re trying to unlock a particular character like Bunny or Gley, you’ll need to check the acquisition info for each of their research materials and pinpoint which Amorphous Materials you need. From here, you can check which mission type drops it, complete the battle or quest, and get one step closer to unlocking your character after obtaining the material.

You can see the exact resources and Amorphous Material you need by visiting Magister Anais in Albion, selecting Research Request, and picking the Descendent you want next. From here, you’ll see their research material list, which you can hover over, go to research, and view their acquisition info alongside a detailed list of mission options.

How to use Amorphous Materials in The First Descendant

Using Amorphous Materials in The First Descendant requires completing Void Intercept missions and interacting with the Reconstructed Device that appears at the end. After collecting boss loot and finding the device, you’ll interact with it and choose the Amorphous Material pattern you wish to open.

Every Amorphous Material has its own material component list, with each item having specific odds of appearing. In other words, you’re not guaranteed to get the same blueprint every day, which may require you to farm and open one Amorphous Material type multiple times until you get everything you need.

Each Amorphous Material also has a specific Void Intercept boss that it pairs with, meaning you may have to run several boss types to open every material you own. Unlocking every boss type requires raising your character level, so be prepared to wait until later in your playthrough to open ones for Swamp Walker or Hanged Man.
