Various Pokemon require special items for their evolution beyond the standard Candy. One resource, in particular, is the Metal Coat, and we’re here to show you how to get it in Pokemon Go.
Where to find Metal Coat in Pokemon Go
To get Metal Coats in Pokémon Go, try the following techniques:
- Spin at PokeStops (frequently appears on seven-day streaks)
- Earned as a reward from PvP or Field Research
- Collectible from friend gifts
The seventh-day streak proves to be the most successful Metal Coat farming method. Thus, trainers must visit the same PokéStop for a week to spin to win. The first day rewards 500 XP, Poké Balls, Potions, and many more. Then, the seventh day increases the chance of getting the evolution item and 2,500 XP. Unfortunately, the streaks don’t always guarantee a Metal Coat, but at least it offers various valuables.
Some players received the object from a friend gift exchange or as a reward from a battle. However, these options aren’t as likely as the PokéStop streaks and involve a ton of luck. No matter what, the Metal Coat won’t be available immediately in Pokémon Go. In the meantime, I recommend collecting more Candy to satisfy the rest of the evolution requirements.
Onix and Scyther are the only known creatures who mandate Metal Coats in Pokémon Go. They typically only need one of them and their corresponding Candy. For example, Scyther’s evolution includes 50 Scyther Candy and a Metal Coat.
If you need Candy with a specific Pokémon, equip them as your buddy or catch more of them to earn these resources. In addition to the Metal Coat, more evolution items can be found for other types, such as the Sun Stone, King’s Rock, and Dragon Scale.
