What is the Bird error code in Destiny 2?

The good news is that Destiny 2‘s Bird error code isn’t anything too complex. According to developer Bungie, Bird simply refers to a general networking issue, meaning the problem lies with your own internet connection or the Destiny 2 servers. It should be easy to figure out where the fault lies by checking whether any other devices in your home are having issues connecting to the internet. If that’s not the case, be sure to scour Bungie’s forums, the Destiny 2 subreddit, or the Bungie Help Twitter account to see if there’s any mention of other players having trouble connecting to the servers. If so, then it’s a problem on Bungie’s end.

The bad news is, if the Bird error code is due to Destiny 2‘s servers going down, there’s little you can do but wait for them to come back online. If the problem lies with your own internet connection, resetting your router will ideally be enough to solve it. This isn’t always guaranteed to work, though, so it’s also worth checking for updates in case there’s a patch you’ve missed.

If you are completely up to date, there’s no harm in just resetting your console or PC. For console owners, you could also unplug your PlayStation or Xbox and leave it for a few minutes to see if it makes a difference. PC owners, meanwhile, can check Destiny 2‘s files through either your Steam or Epic Games Store library. The process is slightly different between platforms so here are quick breakdowns for each one:

How to verify Destiny 2‘s files on Steam

  • Open your Steam library and right click Destiny 2
  • Select Properties
  • Select Local Files in the menu that pops up
  • Select Verify integrity of game files

How to verify Destiny 2‘s files on Epic Games Store

  • Open your Epic Games library, find Destiny 2, and click the small three dots next to it
  • Select Manage
  • Click the Verify button

Hopefully, any of these solutions will clear things up and let you get back to playing Destiny 2 bird-free.
