Stardew Valley’s Big Tree has a neighbor you can meet once you complete its prerequisite requirements. However, before doing this, you’ll have to find the tree, farm an uncommon resource, and build the neighbor’s home. Here’s how to find the Big Tree in Stardew Valley.
Where to find the Big Tree in Stardew Valley
The Big Tree is in Cindersap Forest, the region south of your farm, just before the entrance to the Secret Forest. Once you go south from your farm to the forest, you’ll spot it to your left inside the fenced-in area.
However, you can’t do anything with its initial tree form. Instead, you can only interact with the Big Tree after encountering the “strong wind storm” event at night, after falling asleep. This night event causes the tree to fall and produce a large stump. You’ll know it’s ready when you find a question mark icon on the stump, indicating you can start its quest line.
Once you interact with the stump following the strong winds dialogue, you’ll gain “The Giant Stump” quest, which asks you to get 100 hardwood. You can get hardwood around your farm and in the Secret Forest. Since you need 100, you may need a few in-game days to gather enough. Fortunately, there isn’t a time limit for completing this, so you can collect the hardwood at your own pace.
After gathering the wood and returning to the Big Tree’s stump, you’ll build a house on top and wait for someone to move in. After some time, you’ll have a new neighbor to interact with.
