In LEGO Fortnite, there are several kinds of wood you can harvest in order to craft new and exciting tools and items. The base level wood is simply that — wood. The second level is knotroot, which can be found in caves in the grasslands biome. But the third level, Flexwood, is a bit more complicated.
It’ll come as no surprise if you’ve reached this point that some materials cannot be harvested without a specific tool upgrade, the crafting of which can be an exercise in futility if you’re unsure where to begin. So, let’s go over how to find Flexwood in LEGO Fortnite, as well as what you’ll need to bring it home.
Finding Flexwood
You can find Flexwood in the Dry Valley biome. If you’re anything like me, you might venture out there and get confused, however, when the wood harvested is just ordinary wood. No, what you need to be looking out for are the cacti that have propagated throughout the biome. If you harvest these cacti, you’ll earn a steady supply of Flexwood. But, in order to harvest, you’ll need a rare Forest Axe.
How to craft a rare Forest Axe in LEGO Fortnite?
To craft a rare Forest Axe, you’ll need to upgrade your crafting bench to the point where you can craft rare-level tools. This will require 12x Knotroot Rods, 15x Marble Slabs, 6x Sand Claws, and 3x Sand Shells, and since the latter of those items requires at least one trip into the Dry Valley biome, you can get a feel for this new environment before you’re even able to harvest Flexwood.
To collect enough Knotroot to make Knotroot Rods, find a cave in the grasslands biome and you’ll find a plentiful supply throughout. Just remember to bring along an uncommon Forest Axe. In the same breath, you can find marble lining the walls of those same grasslands caves. Sand Claws and Sand Shells can be dropped by wolves and rollers living in the Dry Valley biome. As soon as you have the materials, return to camp and upgrade your crafting bench.
OK — now, you can craft a rare Forest Axe. It’ll require 5x Cut Amber and 3x Knotroot Rod. We’ve already covered how to find and make Knotrood Rods, but Cut Amber can only be acquired by depositing Rough Amber into a Gem Cutter. If you don’t have a Gem Cutter, it’ll cost 20x Marble Slabs, 5x Rough Amber, 5x Sand Claws, and 3x Sand Shells. To find Rough Amber, look atop the mesas in the Dry Valley biome and use an uncommon Pickaxe to harvest them the same way you used one to harvest Marble.
As soon as you have enough materials to craft the rare Forest Axe, prepare yourself for another journey to the Dry Valley biome and clear enough space in your inventory for plenty of Flexwood, because you’ll most certainly need it to progress even further in LEGO Fortnite.
