Fortnite’s Loot Island is a great late-game place to explore if you want to eliminate a few players and grab some valuable loot. While the island has plenty of chests containing various weapons, capturing it is where the real fun begins.
Loot Island location in Fortnite Chapter 5 Season 2
Loot Island spawns in a random location during every Fortnite match. It doesn’t have one exact spawn spot; instead, you’ll know Loot Island will appear soon when you see a rift in the sky with a marker and map icon. You can expect the island to emerge around 30 seconds after the rift’s arrival.
However, you’ll have to wait until three or four storm circles have passed before Loot Island spawns. Typically, only a few squads or a couple dozen solo players will be left after it spawns, and the storm will cover most of the map. With that said, you’ll have to be careful to stay alive as long as possible until Loot Island’s rift arrives, which can take close to ten minutes after the match starts.
What is Loot Island?
Loot Island is a sky platform full of various buildings and chests to loot. These chests often have high-quality weapons, slurp juice, and other consumables you wouldn’t usually find at other landmarks. You’ll also spot ziplines to help you get up to the island, but depending on what’s available in the current season, you can also use items like Wings of Icarus, portable launch pads, or other mobility items.
Loot Island also features a capture point that, after defending for around 30 seconds, will reward you with legendary and mythic-grade items. Since Loot Island’s items are so valuable, you’ll also often find other players fighting and attempting to take the point. Be prepared for plenty of battles, as you’re almost guaranteed to spot at least one other player or squad here.
There are several other benefits to capturing Loot Island alongside getting its valuable items. Since it’s in the air, it serves as a helpful high-ground point for you to snipe or otherwise attack other players still on the ground. It’s also the main point for several quest objectives, such as the Star Wars event, which asks you to capture Loot Island within five minutes of its arrival. During quests like this, you’ll focus on speed rather than caution, especially if you get to the island later than other players.
