A powerful boon, if you can use them
Honkai: Star Rail features simple combat, but it contains many nuances that add a bit of depth.
For example, you may have seen reference to “follow-up attacks” in the game. From the outside looking in, you may think there’s a Persona-style system of extra attacks that you’ve completely ignored up to this point. In actuality, follow-up attacks in Honkai Star Rail are a bit more specific.
In fact, there’s a chance you’ve been using follow-up attacks this entire time.
What are follow-up attacks in Honkai Star Rail?
In short, follow-up attacks are triggered by specific Talents. The most obvious of these comes from Himeko’s Talent Victory Rush, which you likely saw during the opening act of the game. When your party triggers three Weakness Breaks, Himeko activates Victory Rush and inflicts AoE damage on the enemy party. That’s really all there is to follow-up attacks!
That said, few units can pull off follow-up attacks. Most characters feature Talents with unrelated effects. Note that because these moves are tied to character Talents, the ways you’ll trigger them will vary. If you see the phrase “follow-up attack” in the description of a character’s Talent, make sure to look at what activates it. Plan around your party’s perks to make the most out of your attacks.
What characters have follow-up attacks in Honkai Star Rail?
As of writing, only the characters below all have the capacity to use follow-up attacks. Units like March 7th have mechanics similar to follow-up attacks, but the game specifically labels them as counters. Certain characters in the future will inevitably have follow-up attacks in their Talents, so keep your eyes peeled!
