Once you’ve progressed to Chapter 2 of Life is Strange: Double Exposure, things have started to get a little weird. There’s more puzzles to solve across the two timelines, and one of them involves some casual vandalism.
You should remember Lucas Colmenero, he’s the lecturer who took Safi’s death and tried to use it to his advantage by giving a ‘heartfelt’ speech in the North Quad. He’s back in Chapter 2, after his name shows up on the horn of a Cow Skull that shows up thrown through Safi’s windshield in the Living World.
Figuring out that Lucas may or may not be involved in this act of vandalism, Max approaches Lucas in the FAB Coffee Shop, and he is weirdly secretive over what’s in his briefcase. To find out what’s worth acting shifty over, you’ll need to distract him and hop between timelines.
How to distract Lucas in Life is Strange: Double Exposure
It’s not possible to open Lucas’ briefcase in the Living World, at least not to begin with, as he’s wandered off with the key in his pocket. Luckily, we aren’t limited to the Living World, and hopping through to the Dead World can give us a fresh opportunity to get the key.
To get to the Dead World, you can use one of the sparkling portals around the FAB. There are two that are easily accessible:
- One near the statue of the boy holding a skull balloon
- One in the middle of Max’s photography exhibition
When you’ve reached the Dead World, you can approach this timeline’s Lucas and talk to him. He’ll remember whatever actions you chose to take during your previous encounter on the North Quad, but it doesn’t seem to change the outcome of this second meeting too much.
When he’s finished talking, it’s time to figure out your method of distraction. You can look around for a different method, but there seems to be only one plausible way forward. Lucas is very vain, and what better way to distract him then channeling your inner Chloe and performing some (mostly) harmless vandalism of your own? To do this, you’ll need to mess with the standee of Lucas that can be found behind him.
Head over to the Coffee Shop bar and find a marker on the right side of it. Take the marker, and then head back to the standee to get artistic. You’ll have two choices, and you can either give the cardboard Lucas a black eye, or turn him into a devil. Whichever option you choose, don’t forget to take a snapshot of your handiwork before returning to Lucas.
Break the bad news about his standee, and he’ll get up and rush over to try and rectify the damage, leaving the key to the briefcase on the table for you to take.
Once you’ve got the key, you’re free to return to the Living World, use the key on the briefcase, and learn what Lucas was desperate to hide.
