The Wandering Wood is one of the final areas in Octopath Traveler 2, explored in Chapter Five of Temenos’ story. Many players get lost in this area. Fortunately, once you know where to look, it’s as easy as beating information out of townsfolk. Here’s what you need to do.
The solution to the Wandering Wood in Octopath 2
First, you have to actively be progressing Chapter Five of Temenos’ story. If you try to explore the Wandering Wood before that, you’ll just go around in circles for eternity. Don’t fall into this hole!
Once Temenos’ plot leads you directly into the Wandering Wood, go ahead and explore a little bit. You’ll quickly trigger a cutscene where Temenos realizes that the scenery is looking familiar, and he’ll suggest getting some help to proceed. This is your clue to return into the Nameless Village and look for someone to show you the way forward.
Where to find Shurlutto
Like the above says, we must look for a Beastling named Shurlutto. To find him, cross one of the two bridges in the Nameless Village leading to the right side of the area. Afterwards, climb down the first ladder leading towards the water. You’ll find yourself on a small ledge, and an NPC with a green text bubble above his head should be waiting for you. I didn’t catch footage of this leg of the quest, but the screenshot above indicates where you’ll find him. This, as you might have guessed, is Shurlutto.
Use any Path Actions you want, but you ultimately want Temenos to use Guide on him. You’ll get a notice that the NPC you’re guiding will return after you’re done with Shurlutto, so don’t worry about losing anyone valuable. With Shurlutto in tow, head back to the Wandering Wood.
You’ll instantly trigger a cutscene where Shurlutto prompts you to follow him. From here, venture north and you’ll be in the thick of the Wandering Wood proper. Explore this area as you would any other dungeon and make your way to the final boss of Temenos’ story. This is all you need to know ir order to leave the Wandering Wood in Octopath 2. Stock up on any items or equipment you’ll need, as you won’t find another shopkeeper until you reach the story’s conclusion. Good luck, traveler!
