How To Complete Avenge the Drowned in Baldur’s Gate 3 (BG3)

Cuz I'm in too deep.

The Waveservants of Umberlee have lost one of their own to the tides, and Baldur’s Gate 3 will ask you to Avenge the Drowned if you see fit. Completing this task might seem a bit at odds with other things you’d want to do in Baldur’s Gate 3, but thankfully we can have our cake and eat it too.

You’ll run into the Waveservants in the southwest side of the Lower City in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3, near the docks and Steel Watch Foundry. Keep heading along the docks and you’ll reach a temple, where Waveservants are hosting a wake for their fallen sister.

Talk to the leader at the ceremony and convince them you want to help in a quest for vengeance, and you’ll start the Avenge the Drowned side quest in Baldur’s Gate 3.

Where to find the culprit for Avenge the Drowned in Baldur’s Gate 3

To continue this quest, you’ll actually want to hop onto the same path for the Iron Throne plot in Act 3 of Baldur’s Gate 3. Head across the docks and towards the city, and you’ll find Flymm Cargo. After taking out the monsters inside, you can head into the sewers underneath and find a secret dock.

Now, it’s important to stress that while Redhammer is most definitely your suspect, you do not want to turn him in right away. You’ll need his help to complete the Iron Throne section, so don’t draw on him just yet.

Complete all of the Iron Throne prisoner extraction, then return to the dock and you’ll pick things back up.

Should you turn over Redhammer?

Once you get back, the Flood Tide will be waiting, and be a little mad that you just co-conspired with her target. It’s chill; Larian will let you turn Redhammer over now and get the reward. You’ve got your extraction, and you get your reward.

Any other option will lead to a confrontation with the Flood Tide and friends, and unless you want to loot all their corpses for sick gear, I’d avoid this. While the gear is nice, you’re not wanting for it this late in the game. Meanwhile, having the Waveservants be chill with you seems pretty useful. At the very least, you can get one really good robe.
