How to clear the red mist in Redfall

Red mist keeps on rising

Recommended Videos

There are many active dangers in Redfall, in both the living and the undead. One particular environmental hazard, the red mist, creates some unexpected problems if you don’t know how to deal with it.

Red mist will linger in various areas around the town of Redfall and cause damage to any living person that enters it. For you, this is bad; health is already a premium currency, and losing it to some gaseous toxin is going to make vampire slaying a whole lot harder. But once you identify the source of the problem, the solution is much easier to manage.

How to get rid of red mist in Redfall

Every pool of red mist will have, somewhere within it, a bulbous, bloody mass. It’ll be sitting off, usually by itself, and look like the earth got a zit. You can’t really miss it.

This gargoyle-like extrusion is what’s making the red mist, and you’ll need to put a stop to it. There is really only one way to do so, and it’s the way you might have already dealt with vampires before: ultraviolet light.

A UV blaster shining on the nastiness will make it scream out in pain. Keep that light shining on it, and it will eventually calcify, turning into a petrified mass. You can then shatter it, destroying the source of the mist and removing it from the area.

Keep in mind, you’ll need to move quick; leave it alone for too lone without shattering, and the evil pimple will repopulate, resuming its mist-spraying duties.

If you don’t have a UV blaster in your inventory, you can always look for one in the environment. We did find a few situations where an activated UV light in the environment could take these things out, but it was rare. The portability and utility of the UV blaster really makes it a key piece of your arsenal, and worth keeping around even if you prefer a more direct, stake-based approach for your average vampire in Redfall.
