How to beat the Swamp Walker in The First Descendant

I wonder how hard it would be to mod this boss into Shrek.

Before you can square up against the final Normal Mode Colossus in The First Descendant, you’ll need to take down Swamp Walker. This moss-covered monstrosity is a far more aggressive and lethal version of the Grave Walker. You’ll need to build a resistance to the Toxic attribute and keep your head on a swivel if you want to emerge unscathed.

The ‘Ken’ to Grave Walker’s ‘Ryu’

Swamp Walker is a level 82 fight and plays nearly identically to the introductory Colossus fight. The biggest difference is the egregious amount of Toxic attacks and AoE this walking tank throws out. At a minimum, your Toxic Resistance should be 2600, but if you have the Kuiper to spend, every extra bit helps.

This Colossus is very weak against Electric attacks, so be sure to throw some Electric Enhancement Mods on your weapons. They’re relatively inexpensive to enhance and make a big difference.

Swamp Walker attacks

Swamp Walker doesn’t have much in terms of unique attacks. Instead, the armored crab continually unleashes a salvo of Toxic projectiles, creating damaging pools on the ground. Hiding under the Colossus to avoid these attacks isn’t advised as it will unleash a large Toxic cloud to flush you out.

Swamp Walker strategy

Roly-Poly’s, tiny beige versions of the Swamp Walker, will occasionally spawn throughout the fight. They don’t do a lot of damage and are slow-moving. It’s this similarity to zombies that makes them deadly. Don’t let too many spawn, lest you become overwhelmed. Though they’re not filled with delicious crab meat, they do contain ammo and health packs.

During the fight, Swamp Walker will enter a Frenzy state where it cannot be damaged until the knee canisters are destroyed. Once in a Frenzy, Swamp Walker will squat down in place and continue to use its top half as a turret with 360 degrees of coverage. Each of its six legs will sprout a destructible canister. Show Swamp Walker why you failed medical school and test those reflexes like the Colossus didn’t meet its deductible.
