How many galaxies are in No Man’s Sky?

No Man’s Sky is full of various planets and moons to explore, with each star system offering unique planets with varying terrain, weather, temperature, and resources. With over 18 quintillion planets in No Man’s Sky, one can guess how massive the game’s scope is. Each star system in the game has about 2-6 planets, and while it’s difficult to say for certain how many star systems there are, the number of planets should give you a rough idea that star systems would also be in trillions. 

What we do know for certain is how many galaxies are in No Man’s Sky. There are a total of 256 unique galaxies in No Man’s Sky. What “unique” represents here is that while it is possible to travel to more galaxies (such as 257, 258, and so on), all galaxies after 256 galaxies, are not unique and they are simply replicas of the previous galaxies.

All players start in the Euclid Galaxy, which is the first galaxy in No Man’s Sky. When players are able to finally travel to the center of the Euclid Galaxy, they can warp to the second galaxy known as Hilbert Dimension.
