Like its original PlayStation version, Star Ocean: The Second Stor R sports multiple endings. If you’re achievement hunting, it’s not a big deal, but for the completionist, it’s a hefty checklist.
Star Ocean The Second Story R has 99 endings in total, including additional endings added in Second Evolution. Some are easier to see than others and mostly involve managing each character’s Friendship Level.
Regardless, it’s one thing to know there’s 99 possibilities and another to see them all. Below, you’ll find a list of Second Story R endings — along with a few tips for seeing how those stories play out.
How Friendship Levels work
Friendship Levels are now visible from each character’s Status menu, so there’s a little less guesswork involved than back in the day. Once you’ve beaten the game, Second Story R adds an Ending Collection menu to its database.
Private Events and decisions made along the way influence how characters feel about each other. You can also use Specialties to craft items that reward Friendship bonuses, like Publication. Each party member has a Level 5 and Level 10 book to craft, raising their Friendship Level to 16 and 28, respectively.
