By breaking all the rules, that’s how!
Frog Fractions is not a small experience, especially by the expectations of a free flash game. There is a lot going on beneath the surface here, more than I ever expected. After playing through the game, I couldn’t help but wonder “Why the hell was this made?”
Luckily for me (and you, if you’re also interested in interesting things), we have the answers to this question. Jim Crawford, creator of Frog Fractions, told us everything and more about the process of making his breakout hit (which sadly does not include anything that resembles Break-Out. You’ll have to head over to Futility Pong if that’s your fancy.)
The surprises came left and right in our tell all expose. My jaw was dropped as I learned the myriad of connections between Frog Fractions, Jamestown, Panzer Dragoon, Chibi Robo, and actual human friendships. There was also a hearty discussion of “gamification” of life, and how XBL achievements can make your life worse. In the end, all I could think was “Marry me, Jim Crawford.” And so we did.
Thanks again to Jim for appearing on the show. Tune in this Sunday at 1pm PST/4pm EST when we welcome David Wreden of The Stanley Parable to the program!
