Ah, case mods. As much as I like my self-built gaming rig I can’t but think how much more I’d like it if, rather then its sturdy yet plain case, it was housed inside a scale replica of the Outlaw Star, complete with functional grappler arms. Yeah, that’d be pretty awesome, but seeing as how I unfortunately lack any sort of skill with hand tools it probably won’t be happening any time soon. Guess I’ll just have to admire the works of others and think about what could be.
And boy-oh-boy, did Iron Mod’s Tom Khowdee ever come up with something to admire. The above pictured Team Fortress 2 sentry turret mod is truly a work to be proud of — showing a ridiculous amount of detail and sticking close to the original design. Oh yeah, and it was built entirely from scratch. My jealously knows no bounds.
If you want to see exactly how Tom pulled this off, or maybe want to try and make one of your own, there is a step-by-step guide available. There’s also a gallery for those that only want to marvel.
Does Tom’s mod impress? If so, you might want to check out his earlier TF2 dispenser mod. There are also plans to round out the set with a teleporter mod and a sapper that doubles as a Vista Sideshow-enabled touchscreen attachment. This guy’s a real engineer!
