Publisher: Square Enix
Developer: Mistwalker
Price: $49.99
Release Date: December 5

Trailer

The founding fathers of the Final Fantasy series, producer Hironobu Sakaguchi, and beloved composer Nobuo Uematsu have joined forces with Mistwalker to create an all-new turn-based RPG. It has a few mechanics that sway the tide of combat, however. For example, your attacks can be formed at a certain angle, letting you hit multiple foes at once. You’ll play as protagonist Leo, who has lost his memories and goes on a journey to reclaim them one by one. As he’s exploring, he saves the world from the mechteria infection, which has caused the planet to be overrun by machines. You’ll be able to participate in turn-based battles and gaze at the hand-made environments when the game launches on December 5.

Fantasian Neo Dimension may end up having one of the most beautiful visuals I’ve experienced in games,” said our hands-on preview. “It’s quite breathtaking in motion.”

Release Date: December 9

Trailer

Indy is off on another adventure, which takes place between Raiders of the Lost Ark and The Last Crusade. This time, he’s off to find out the mysteries of the Great Circle after a relic is stolen from Marshall College. Developed by MachineGames (the studio behind the excellent reboot Wolfenstein series), you’ll be solving puzzles in ruins, fighting Nazis in hand-to-hand combat, and using his iconic whip to distract foes. The developer says you can use a gun but doesn’t encourage it. The game will officially launch on December 9, but there will be early access for those who get the premium or collector’s edition of Indiana Jones and The Great Circle. PS5 players have to wait until Spring next year.

Developer: Papergames
Price: Free-to-play
Release Date: December 4 or December 5, depending on timezone

Trailer

Infinity Nikki is an adorable open-world game from one of the designers of The Legend of Zelda: Breath of the Wild Kentaro Tominaga. With the power of Nikki’s outfits, you’ll be able to solve puzzles and explore the world in this 3D platformer. Some of the outfits Nikki wears allow her to shrink down or float in the air. The graphics are made in Unreal Engine 5 and will likely look stunning on your PS5, PC, or even mobile device. The game’s PlayStation listing says, “The game is rich in immersive details, from sunrises to sunsets, the ever-changing weather and Miraland creatures living their own lives.” It releases as a free-to-play game on December 4 or December 5, depending on your time zone.

Marvel Rivals (PS5, Xbox Series X|S, PC)

Publisher: NetEase
Developer: NetEase Games
Price: Free-to-play
Release Date: December 6

Trailer

Overwatch should watch its left as Marvel Rivals might eat its lunch when it releases on December 6. Featuring 6v6 gameplay, you play as many different heroes and villains from the Marvel multiverse. You’ll be healing allies as Jeff the Land Shark and webbing up enemies with Spider-Man as you try to capture points and finish objectives as a team. The action is intense, and each superhero on the roster feels unique. The environments are also destructible.

Despite the comparisons to Overwatch, this shooter has some mechanics to bring to the table, according to our preview. “Luna Snow has become a fast favorite for me in the healer department; she’s got some ideas that feel familiar to Zenyatta and Lucio, alongside a potent skill that can freeze an opponent,” the article said. “It’s really fun to snowball an enemy and freeze them mid-ultimate.”

If the beta is anything to go by, this free-to-play title might be very popular from the offset when it launches on consoles and PC on December 6.

Release Date: December 10

Trailer

Another licensed game to look forward to is Power Rangers Mighty Morphin Power Rangers: Rita’s Rewind. The game takes us back to the 90s with its hand-drawn pixel art look. You can expect 2D brawling action, arcade-style shooting, and even driving sequences that look totally radical. You’ll also be able to fight as the Megazord and “take down gigantic bosses,” according to the game’s Steam page. Fans of the original show will recognize certain events and episodes that have been remixed, due to Robo Rita messing up the timeline.
