Quit bugging me
Obsidian Entertainment’s well-received backyard adventure Grounded is set to receive a TV adaptation. The animated series is currently in pre-production as a joint venture between Bardel Entertainment, Kinetic Media, and SC Productions. A premiere date was not announced.
“Grounded has caught the imagination of millions of people and we’ve learned that the biggest fans want even more of that world,” said game director Adam Brennecke in a press release. “This partnership will allow us to give fans more Grounded while expanding the world that so many have come to love.”
The Grounded show will, much like its video game counterpart, tell the story of a group of kids forced to fend themselves against bugs and critters of all shapes and sizes when they are shrunken down via some mysterious and unstable technology. And if fending off gargantuan wasps, spiders, ants, and beetles weren’t enough, the kids must find a way to return to full size in order to expose a conspiracy threatening the entire town… Think Honey, I Shrunk the Kids meets All the President’s Men. Probably.
Grounded will be written by Brent Friedman (Star Wars: Clone Wars, Star Trek: Enterprise) and directed by Brien Goodrich (Halo). A special panel is set to take place at San Diego Comic-Con (SDCC) where the first details about the show, its premise, characters, and cast are likely to be outlined. Production for the Grounded TV show is in its infancy, so it is very unlikely that we’ll see it hit our screens until later in 2023 at the very earliest.
