The British Academy of Film and Television Arts has released its nominee list for the 2023 iteration of its BAFTA Game Awards, which are scheduled to take place later this month — And Sony Santa Monica sequel God of War Ragnarok is leading the way, with a record-breaking 14 nominations.

The critically acclaimed, and multi-award-winning fantasy adventure is nominated in the majority of the year’s categories, including Best Technical Achievement, Narrative, Music, Multiplayer, Game Design, Artistic Achievement, and, of course, Best Game. Additionally, Christopher Judge is up for Performer in a Leading Role for his portrayal of Kratos, while Danielle Bisutti is nominated in the Performer in a Supporting Role category for her portrayal of the troubled witch, Freya. It seems highly unlikely that the smash-seller will not walk away without a fistful of gongs — at the very least — come the big night.

Aside from the God of War Ragnarok nomination sweep, plenty of great releases from 2022 are also hoping to take home a coveted BAFTA award. Titles such as FromSoftware’s Elden Ring, Guerilla Games’ Horizon Forbidden West, Team Asobo’s A Plague Tale: Requiem, and Annapurna Interactive’s Stray have also all received nominations, alongside smaller-sized hits including Half Mermaid’s FMV mystery Immortality, Finji’s Tunic, Massive Monster’s Cult of the Lamb, and Poncle’s compelling mobile title Vampire Survivors.

The BAFTA ceremony will take place on March 30.
