Sony has offered up more details pertaining to its anticipated PC port of one of the finest third-person adventures in recent memory, God of War. The PC port of Sony Santa Monica’s 2018 smash hit release is expected to launch in January 2022, boasting more technical enhancements than you can swing an axe at — for those packing the GPU to pull it off.

The PC requirements for the God of War port have been released and — in keeping with previous PS4 ports such as Days Gone and Horizon Zero Dawn — shouldn’t break the power bank too much for any relatively serious PC gaming fan. The minimum specifications require a 4GB GTX 960 or similar, and predict low graphical capabilities running at a resolution of 720p and 30FPS. At the highest end of the spectrum, those lugging about a 10GB RTX 3080, 16GB of RAM, and an eight-core processor can bring God of War‘s stunning vistas to life, sporting 4K resolution at 60 FPS.

What this boils down to is making God of War, which is already a great-looking game, w better than ever before, with enhancements to the game’s texture edging, light and shadow effects, water reflection, bloom, ambient occlusion and so much more. God of War for PC will also support specific GPU features such as AMD’s FidelityFX Super Resolution and Nvidia’s Reflex tech. Whether it’s the calm rivers of Alfheim, the treacherous icelands of Helheim, or the misty mountains of Jotunheim, PC players can (hopefully) expect a fantastic-looking adventure.

Of course, all of this goes without saying that God of War is a brilliant release in its own right, as exemplified by its army of supporters and more than a few awards in its trophy cabinet. Even in 2022, it will stand the test of time for new players, while also bringing a new audience into the fold ahead of its highly anticipated sequel, God of War: Ragnarok, which is currently in development for PlayStation platforms. If you’re a PC player and yet to experience God of War, it might be well worth your time checking it out when it finally hits Steam January 14, 2022. There are worse ways to begin your year.
